Here at Monmouth Dental Arts, we have an excellent hygiene program as well as our very thorough processes of record keeping as well as diagnosis. Myself and Dr. Fumero, we both graduated from NYU, we both were a part of the Periodontics Honors Programs, so we have a very strong belief and education base in terms of gum health. About 47% of the population, just straight genetics, have some form of gum and bone disease.
So our job is to make sure that we are not only diagnosing properly, but also taking care of these issues, treating them properly before these things get worse and worse. When you have gum and bone disease, the bacteria unfortunately does keep eating away the attachment level of the gum and bones, and eventually can get to the point where the tooth or teeth are loose. We don’t ever want to get to that point.
We want to keep the gums and bones nice and healthy and maintain our teeth for the entirety of our life, ideally.
